Day 1 – Saturday 22nd of August – Lima: Today we will take a tour in the historic heart of Lima. Guided tour to the historic heart of Lima, the most important city of the Spanish colony in the Americas. Visit the Main Square, Iglesia de San Francisco and the modern part of Lima.
Day 2 – Sunday 23th of August – To Cusco: Early in the morning our private transportation will take us to the Lima Airport for our flight to Cusco, the archeological capital of America. Transfer to our hotel in Cusco.
Day 3 – Monday 24th of August – Cusco: Today we will visit the nearby ruins around Cusco, including Sacsayhuaman with its remarkable Inka masonry, Qenqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. Return to Cusco and visit the Koriqancha and the cathedral, one of America’s most impressive.
Day 4 – Tuesday 25th of August – Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain):
We will pick you up very early in the morning –between 03:00 a.m. and 03:30 a.m.– at your respective hotels to begin our adventure. Subsequently, we will travel aboard our private transportation to the ¨Rainbow Mountain¨. A 2-hour trip will lead us to the Pitumarca community, where we will enjoy an exquisite breakfast. After our breakfast, we will travel for 1 hour until we reach the Pampachiri community. Once in Pampachiri, we will begin our 2.5 hours journey up the mountain.
Along our hike, we will walk down a pathway surrounded by mountains of vibrant colors and small streams of icy water. These streams nourish and give life to this beautiful place. Finally, we will reach the highest point of our trek: the summit of the Vinicunca (5,033 meters above sea level).
At this point, we will have plenty of time to snap selfies and photographs, record videos, etc. Then, we will enjoy a snack while we appreciate the magic and energy of this majestic place, which is shrouded in clouds and surrounded by peaks. After this beautiful experience, we will retrace our steps to Pampachiri on a 2.5 hour hike. Upon our arrival, we will board our transport to return to Pitumarca, where we will eat a delicious lunch. Lastly, we will head back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 17:30. Our tour ends at the Regocijo Square.
Day 5 – Wednesday 26th of August – Sacred Valley Tour: A full day tour through the Sacred Valley of the Inkas. Our tour will start by visiting the “Away Yachana Wasi” (learning house in Quechua) and the remaining ruins at Chinchero. We continue visiting the fortress of Ollantaytambo and Pisac.
Day 6 – Thursday 27th of August – KIT pick up & technical speech: Today is a very important day. Since early in the morning, the race organization will be giving bib numbers and race kit to all participants and will have 2 technical speechs during the day.
Day 7 Friday 28th of August – Day at leisure: We reccommend to take it easy today. At 5pm starts 100K race and late tonight will be transfered to the start points of the different distances. Review the race program here: www.andesrace.pe/cronograma/
Day 8 – Saturday 29th of August – RACE DAY: Today we will have the race start of 13K, 30K and 60K distances. The organization will transfer all participants from Cusco to the different start points. The Finish line will be at Ollantaytambo and will spend the night there.
Day 9 – Sunday 30th of August – To Machu Picchu: Our day will start early in the morning to continue our journey by train through the Sacred Valley of the Inkas to Machu Picchu, a must while visiting Cusco. Our knowledgeable private guide will show us the most important spots of the ruins. Afternoon train journey back to Cusco. From the Ollantaytambo train station our private transportation will take us to our hotel.
Day 10 – Monday 31st of August – To Lima: Our private transportation fill transfer us to the airport to catch our flight back to Lima
